Although there are a lot of people out there who would enjoy knowing how to make money writing articles, there are very few that are actually going to be able to do so.  The reason why this is the case is something that goes far beyond a person’s ability to be able to write articles.  As a matter of fact, whether or not you can write articles, it is possible for you to make money in using this venture.  It has more to do with a person’s ability to stick to a project for the long-term.

One misunderstanding that many people have about making money on the Internet is the fact that it is going to be easy.  They think that they will be able to sit down a few minutes in the evenings, hack out an article or two and begin raking in money, hand over fist.  The simple fact of the matter is, making money by writing articles is going to take a lot of time and determination for you to be able to truly accomplish it.  It is not something that can be done in a matter of minutes and it is certainly not something that you will see an immediate return on in many cases.

That isn’t to say that you should not expect results right away, it’s just not something that you should hang your business on.  In order for you to truly be successful and to make money writing articles for the long term, you need to stick with it for the long term.  Remember, what you are doing is a business and although it is different than an off-line business where you need to invest thousands of dollars into it from the start, it is a business nonetheless.  If you are not going to treat it with the respect that it deserves, you are going to end up failing at it and think that there is no true substance behind it.

The first thing that you should do whenever you decide to make money writing articles is to sit down and write an article for yourself.  This is an article that will tell you exactly what you are going to do on a daily basis for the next 30 days.  If you only have the time to write one article every day, make sure that you do write an article on a daily basis without fail.  It is only after you put up a multitude of articles and really get the traffic flowing into your websites that you will begin to see a return for your efforts.

I have many articles that I wrote years ago which are still making me money consistently and are driving a ton of traffic to my websites.  I also have articles that I wrote at the same time period which have become pretty much dead and I have long since forgotten about them.  This is not a business where absolutely everything that you touch is going to turn to gold but it is something that if you touch enough things, you will end up with some gold to show for it.
